Designing Artwork for See-Through Graphics
Holes punch tiny gaps in every letter and line. Artwork that looks sharp on a solid proof can go soft on perforated film if you ignore contrast and scale.
Rules of thumb
- High contrast: dark on light or light on dark beats mid-tone on mid-tone.
- Bigger type: small legal text and thin scripts are the first to fail.
- Fewer fine lines: thick shapes survive perforation better than hairlines.
- Keep critical info centered: edges and corners get trimmed and stressed first on real windows.
Always request a perforation-aware proof or mockup. What you approve on a solid PDF is not identical to what prints on open-hole film.
